Petition The Prime Minister

Richard Perkins

has received promises from Ministers to 'deal with the matter quickly' and the accompanying apologies over this affair, but still 5 years on, nothing is resolved!

You can help!

As you have seen from evidence on this website in the letters, newspaper articles & what Ministers and MPs have stated in Parliament, Richard has a case - so please help by following the petition link: http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/modinjustice/

In 1998, the Army Pay Corps (APC) wrote to thousands of war pensioners suggesting their war pensions had been taxed. Some pensioners had died before they could claim, others are still waiting for their rebate. Some got their rebate. In 2002 the MoD conceded that tax rebates were due and compound interest be paid. I know of one pensioner who is still waiting for his interest and another whose widow's pension has been cut to 40%. Please petition Number 10 Downing Street to ensure that all the veterans of the wars & conflicts past and on-going receive the full pension they are due to them or their widows and families.

On the Number 10 petition website, fill in the details as requested. You will then be sent an e-mail containing a link which you must click on in order to validate your addition to the petition list. Thank you.

This petiton is the second submission to Number 10, as the first was rejected thus:

Your petition was classed as being in the following categories:
* Issues for which an e-petition is not the appropriate channel *

The wording of the petition was similar, but the team at Downing Street didn't like it. It said:

"We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to: 'resolve the MoD pension injustice of Major Richard Perkins'.
Major Richard Perkins, was retired from the Army in 1959 by disability. his pension was wrongly taxed and eventually in 2002 the MoD conceded that a tax rebate was due and compound interest be paid. To date the interest has not been reimbursed. Ministers have apologised but that's all. They say it's a Revenue & Customs problem, but HMR&C state they cannot repay without authority from the Mod Please help to get this injustice resolved. Richard Perkins is 89 and has been fighting for this since 1998. Let's not allow it to go to 2008! You can read the full story using a search engine to find MoD Pension Injustice."
